The dental braces are the orthodontics braces which are devices used in orthodontics for aligning and straightening the teeth.  The orthodontics is the primary specialty of dentistry which is concerned with the study and treatment of malocclusions or improper bites which results in irregularity of the teeth, uneven jaw relationships or both. The orthodontics braces aids in positioning the teeth with regard to a person’s bite thereby improve the dental health.

The usage of orthodontics braces

These dental braces are used to correct under bites or malocclusion which is the misalignment of the teeth or is the incorrect relation between the teeth of the two dental arches.  These braces are used to correct over bite which is a condition where the lower jaw is too far behind the upper jaw or a misalignment of the teeth. It is also used to correct the cross bites which is an occlusal irregularity where the tooth is either closer to the cheek or to the tongue than its corresponding antagonist tooth in the upper or lower arcade. These braces are also used to correct deep bites, crooked teeth and other flaws of the jaw and teeth.

These braces can be applied by your orthodontist where the dentist attaches brackets to each tooth with glue. The arch wires are fitted into all the brackets and are held in place with the wire or rubber ties.  It takes a little time for you to get used to the braces and only soft foods are recommended while wearing it.

The working of the braces

The application of these braces moves the teeth as a result of force and pressure. The teeth move when the arch wire puts pressure on the teeth and brackets. In certain times, rubber bands or springs are used to put more force in a specific direction. These braces have continuous pressure which moves teeth into proper positions.
